1806. Election of Henri Christophe as president of Haiti.
Under the aegis of the Constitution passed the day before, Henri Christophe was elected president by
the Constituent Assembly. Distrusting the people of the West and the constitution, he
refused to take his seat in Port-au-Prince. A civil war between the North and the West broke out
