1878. Death at Kingston, Jamaica of Nicolas Geffrard.
Born in Anse-à-Veau on September 23, 1803. Geffrard was president of Haiti from the 18th
January 1859 to March 13, 1867, when he took, with his family, the path of exile.
1913. Taking up arms in Thomazeau.
This taking of arms against President Michel Oreste was put to rest the next day. But
it inspired others, especially in the North, who rebelled against the
Government of Port-au-Prince.
