After his discoveries, Christopher Columbus sailed for Spain aboard
its two caravels (the Pinta and the Nina). The Santa was wrecked on December 24
1492.
1946. Removal of Elie Lescot:
Following the strikes and protests against his regime, the army took over from him
power through the "Military Executive Committee" composed of three members:
Colonel Frank Lavaud, president, the majors Antoine Lévelt and Paul Eugène Magloire
members. President Lescot will be kept prisoner until his departure for exile
January 14.
