1859. Faustin 1st gave up power:
Unable to overcome the insurrection that broke out in Gonaives on 22 December
1858, Faustin 1st, became president of Haiti in 1847 and was proclaimed
Emperor of Haiti two years later resigned himself to go into exile.

1870. President Salnave is shot:
President of Haiti since June 14, 1867, his government was dominated by
Political crises and civil war. His execution took place on the ruins of his
palace.
1908. Landing of Firmin at Gonaives:
This event marked the beginning of the uprising of the Artibonite against the president
