1976. Death of Mgr. François Poirier
Born on November 2, 1904, Bishop François Poirier, a French prelate became archbishop
from Port-au-Prince on July 3, 1955. Accused of collusion with students
strikers and was expelled from the country in November 1960. To facilitate the talks
between the government of Duvalier and the Holy See, he resigned in 1966.
