Well-read and diplomat, Ulricj Duvivier, father, was born in Cap-Haïtien. He occupied
several in our diplomacy, including that of Secretary of State for Affairs
étangères under the government of Vilbrun Guillaume Sam, from ambassador to the
Havana and in Washington.
1961. Bishop Claudius Angenor was entrusted with the administration of the archbishopric of Portau-Prince.
The archbishopric was deprived of a titular following the expulsion of Bishop Remy
Augustin on January 9, 1961. Three years later, Bishop Angenor himself became the
target of François Duvalier’s government and was placed under house arrest
because he had, during a Te Deum, made mention of political prisoners.
