1802. Arrival of the French expeditionary fleet in Cape Town:
Leclerc, leader of the expedition, called Henri Christophe, commander of the city, from
deliver it in 24 hours. To answer, Christophe ordered the town fire,
preferring to reduce it to ashes rather than obey Leclerc.
1827. Explosion of the army’s arsenal at Port-au-Prince:
"This explosion occurred a few minutes after Boyer’s departure [which
had just visited the arsenal]... More than a hundred people were on the
places... perished in this disaster."
1914. Conflict between the army of Oreste Zamor and that of Davilmar Théodore:
The latter, formed in the North and headed for Port-au-Prince, had to
to turn back. On that day, General Emmanuel Oreste-Zamor was proclaimed
"Chief of the Executive Branch" by the generals of his army gathered in Gonaives. He
made his entry into the capital on February 7 and will be elected the next day by the Assembly
Nationale, President of the Republic.

1974. Episcopal ordination of Bishop François Gayot:
Mgr. François Gayot succeeded Mgr. Cousineau at the head of the diocese of CapHaitien. The new bishop was until then part of the Congregation of the Montfortians.
