1802.- War or fight at La Ravine with the snakes - Combat de la Ravine à Couleuvres:
About ten kilometers from the city of Gonaives, this narrow passage was the scene
of the first major battle between the indigenous army under Toussaint’s command
Louverture and a division of the expeditionary army commanded by
Rochambeau. Despite the intrepidity of the indigenous troops, they were crushed by
the expedients.
