1791.- Killing of the mulattos Vincent Ogé and Jean-Baptiste Chavannes:
Faced with the refusal of settlers from Santo Domingo to apply the decree of March 28, 1790
emanating from the National Assembly, which granted the right to vote to free men
aged 25, Ogé and his friend Chavannes took, at the end of October
that same year, weapons against the whites. Defeated, pursued, and captured, they
were condemned to the torture of the wheel.
