1806.- Death of Thomas Alexandre Dumas, father of the French writer Alexandre
Dumas (1802-1870):
Thomas Alexandre Dumas was born in Saint Domingue in 1762. He was the natural son
of Antoine Alexandre Davy, marquis de la Pailleterie (1710-1786) and a slave
noire, Marie-Zézette Dumas, died in 1772.


1999.- Through the intermediary of his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Fritz
Longchamp, Haiti signed the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court:
This court, the first to sit permanently, will be responsible for
to investigate and prosecute individuals accused of mass violations of the law
international humanitarian and human rights (genocides, war crimes,
crimes against humanity).


2002.- Funeral of MP Marc André Durogène, assassinated on February 17:
