1818.- Act renaming the Fort National as Fort Alexandre:
A law submitted by Jean-Pierre Boyer a few months after the death of his
protector, Alexandre Pétion and his accession to the presidency. A way for him
to pay tribute to him. 


1844.- Independence of the Dominican Republic:
The eastern part of the island, neglected by the Haitian governments, stood out
and became the Dominican Republic. From Rivière Hérard to Soulouque, all the chiefs
Haitian government officials have tried in one way or another to recover this part and the
back into the bosom of Haiti.


1847.- Death of Jean-Baptiste Riché:
Eighth president of Haiti, General Jean Baptiste Riché was chosen by the
garrisons in Port-au-Prince who had previously pronounced the removal of his
predecessor, General Jean-Louis Pierrot. Through the choice of collaborators
capable and certain positive actions, he was able to enter the esteem of the
population. His death occurred after a short illness.
