2004. Inauguration of Boniface Alexandre as provisional president of Haiti:
President of the Court of Cassation, Boniface Alexandre, has been officially invested
as provisional president following the departure of Jean Bertrand Aristide, according to the
wish of the 1987 constitution, art 149. On February 29, the day of this departure, he had
only sworn in. Today’s investiture ceremony took place at the
National Palace, placed under the protection of American forces.
