1822. Boyer imposes the Constitution of 1816 on Santo Domingo:
Relying on Article 38 of the 1816 Constitution, which prohibits the right to
property to the whites, Boyer decreed that the inhabitants of the eastern part are all

1987. Publication of the 1987 Constitution by the Constituent Assembly
This constitution was adopted on March 29, a few days later. Despite
its flaws, it was approved by a large majority.
1990. Resignation of General Prosper April:
Appointed president following the action of the soldiers of the national palace against the
General Henri Namphy, General Prosper Avril will be forced to resign under the
pressure from some political organizations and the United States.
