1818. Death of Alexandre Pétion:
Born in Port-au-Prince on April 2, 1770, Alexandre Pétion who fought alongside
Dessalines during the War of Independence, became president of the Republic
from Haiti on March 10, 1807. He was replaced the day after his death by Jean Pierre
Boyer.


1821. Arrival in Port-au-Prince of Mgr Glory:
First Vicar Apostolic appointed by the Holy See, Archbishop Glory arrived in Haiti
accompanied by several ecclesiastics, and was received with all the honors due to
his rank by the government of Boyer. However, accused of working
surreptitiously upon returning to colonization, he was asked to leave, less than one after his
arrival.


1983.- Death of Rémy Augustin.
First Haitian bishop appointed on April 8, 1953, Mgr. Augustin was initially an auxiliary
of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince, apostolic administrator after the expulsion of
Mgr. Poirier. Expelled himself, he returned to the country in 1966 as an ordinary of the
Diocese of Port-de-Paix.


1987. Constitution 1987 approved:
The massive vote on March 29, 1987 in favor of the Constitution is the sign not
ambiguity of the real awakening of a people who want to put an end to despotism...

 

2026.- Violent attacks by the Gran Gif gang against the population of the Petite Rivière
of the Artibonite.
In a violent attack carried out by the notorious criminal gang Gran Grif
at the Petite-Rivière de l'Artibonite more than twenty people found the
dead, not to mention a high number of wounded. Other gang attacks had
place the next day. In this context of violence, an illegitimate prime minister and
a dizzy CEP wants elections.


It should be remembered that this gang, operating in the Artibonite region, had led
attacks against this same city almost a year ago, forcing dozens of
people to cross by swimming and fording the longest river in the country to
to escape.
