1792. Decree of the National Assembly in favor of the free men of the colonies:
Under the influence of the "Friends of Blacks" a philanthropic society and
abolitionist, the French National Assembly voted a law guaranteeing to
free men have the same civil and political rights as white settlers, and
requesting the immediate admission of the latter into the colonial assemblies.

1811. Proclamation by Henri Christophe announcing a new system of
government:
Henri Christophe was, in the North, at the head of a government that
vaguely resembled a republic. As head of the executive, he said to himself "the first
magistrate' with the "title and status of president and generalissimo of the forces of
land and sea of Haiti" (Constitution of 1807: State of Haiti (North), Art. 6). In this
day, he announced to his fellow citizens his decision to establish in the part that he
governed a royalty. A constitution was published to this effect.
1856. Death of Honoré Féry:
Honoré Féry owes his fame to the role he played in the revolution of 1843 and who
was appointed Vice-President of the Constituent Assembly and Minister of Justice,
