Born in Jacmel from a French family, he became Haitian after his studies in Paris.
Professor at the Port-au-Prince Law School, he passed into the history of the
Haitian literature for his novel: Deux Amours [Port-au-Prince: Chenet, 1895],
and his new works Pages retrouvés [Paris: A Savine, 1895] and Sans pardon [Port-auPrince: Imprimerie de l'Abeille, 1909].
