1922. Election of Louis Borno to the presidency by the Council of State:
Second president under the American occupation, Louis Borno, who will have been invested
May 15 of the same year is described by historians as the man of
confidence of the Americans and a zealous collaborator. He was re-elected on April 12, 1926
for another four-year term.
2012. Ratification by the Senate of the Republic of Laurent Lamothe, then first
designated minister:
Until then, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Martelly-Conille government), he was
designated by the president, of whom he is a close friend, on March 1st to succeed Garry
Conille. The Senators ratified it by 23 votes in favor, three against and one abstention.
