1807. An Act to create the first police force:
The first police force was established in Port-au-Prince, composed of only 25
men commanded by a captain and a lieutenant. These police officers who
were mainly concerned with the hygiene and tranquility of the streets, carried a
blue uniform with white buttons, a sword and a typewriter hat.

1852. Coronation of Faustin I. as emperor of Haiti:
Emperor under the aegis of the imperial constitution promulgated on September 20
1849, he waited nearly 31 months to be crowned after two weeks of

1950. The Senate of the Republic rejected the draft constitutional revision submitted
by the executive:
