1875. Death of generals Momplaisir Pierre and Birmard Brice:
Held as suspects by the government of President Domingue, who was trying to
to stop, they were trying to defend themselves with arms in hand. Wounded, Brice succumbed to the
Spanish consulate. Momplaisir Pierre committed suicide instead of letting himself be apprehended.
1826. Ratification of Jean-Pierre Boyer’s Rural Code by the Senate:
Ratified by the House of Commons on 21 April 1825, this code signed by the
president on May 6 reduced the farmer to a serf.
