1911: Rebellion against Antoine Simon in the Northeast:
Following the Ouanaminthe insurrection, repressed by Antoine’s soldiers
Simon, a revolt breaks out in the village of Ferrier (Northeast department). The
General Cincinnatus Leconte, two months later, took the lead of the rebels and
led with his troops to Port-au-Prince where he was first proclaimed chief of the
revolution and, a few months later, president of Haiti (August 14, 1911), Antoine
Simon having in the meantime given up power on August 2.
