1812. As part of the fight against Christopher, Pétion ordered the recruitment
of peasants:
Alexandre Pétion, president of the Republic of Haiti (departments of the West and
from the South) "ordered Colonel Tahet, to form a detachment to send it to him
One hundred men recruited from the communes of Miragoâne, Saint Michel, and Anseà-Veau and chosen from among the farming inhabitants who have weapons and who have the most
of interest in supporting the Republic against Christopher.”
