Flag Day
One of the five national holidays recognized by the 1987 Constitution (art. 275.1).
Commemorative day for the creation of the flag in 1803, President Duvalier
also made her the day of the university.

1803. Congress of Arcahaie and adoption of the Haitian flag:
Four-day gathering (started on the 14th) held in Arcahaie and chaired by
Dessalines whose authority was recognized by the mulatto chiefs. During this congress the
blue and red flag was officially adopted.
