1802. Arrest of Toussaint Louverture:
On the pretext of getting to know him and thus better collaborating in general peace,
General Brunet invited Toussaint to his home. Although of a suspicious nature, Toussaint
attends this invitation and is stopped barely before the threshold of the house. He will be
embarked a few days later for France. (See: 11 June 1802).
1843. Creation, in Port-au-Prince, of the first municipal commission:
This creation followed the decree of May 9, 1843. This first commission was
composed of the following citizens:
1. Jean Paul, mayor
2. P. Jeanton, First Deputy
3. P. Morin, second deputy
4. J. A. Mirabeau, third deputy
