1802. Toussaint Louverture arrested is embarked on "Le Creole":
Once arrested (June 7, 1802), he was taken away in the greatest secret aboard the
frigate “Le Créole” anchored in the harbor of Gonaïves. That is when he would have
told the division chief Savary “By knocking me down, you only shot down the
trunk of the Tree of Freedom, it will grow again because its roots are deep and
many”.
Arrived in the Cape, he was transferred to "Le Héros" which left for France (June 15, 1802)
who weighed anchor two days later, for a journey of twenty-five days.
1872. Extortion of the Germans on the Haitian government:
Two German frigates, Vineta and Gazella, anchored in Port-au-Prince.
Two hours after their arrival, Captain Batsch demanded immediate payment from
three thousand sterling, then, without even waiting for the government’s response.
seized two Haitian ships peacefully at anchor. Outraged, but
convinced of its impotence, Haiti paid.

1874. Election to the presidency of General Michel Domingue:
Appointed by the Council of Ministers, which replaced President Nissage Saget (See:
May 15, 1874), Domingue instituted the office of vice-president. His nephew
became the Vice-President. An insurrection forced him to resign and take the
path of exile.
