1993. UN Security Council resolution imposing an embargo on the
arms and oil bound for Haiti:
This resolution, taken in the context of United Nations support for the president
Jean-Bertrand Aristide, then in exile, and sanctions against the resulting government
of the coup d'état of September 30, 1991, was partially implemented. Despite the
deployment in Haiti’s territorial waters of ships from the United States,
from Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Argentina, the Netherlands and charged
to enforce the sanction, nothing was done to plug the porosity of the
Haitian-Dominican border. However, this resolution had the virtue of bringing together
around a table the recalcitrant protagonists of the crisis and to generate

1998. Leonel Fernandez’s visit to Haiti:

1960. This visit will last until the 20th.
