1945. Haiti signed the charter emanating from the San Francisco Conference:
During a conference held in San Francisco, California [USA], on the 25th
April to June 26, 1945, and bringing together delegates from fifty countries representing about 80% of the
population of the globe at the time, a charter was to mark the prelude to its creation
of the United Nations was drafted, adopted unanimously and signed by all
delegates. Haiti was represented at this conference by Gérard E. Lescot, Vely
Thébaud, General Alfred Nemours, André Liautaud. Mr. Gérard E. Lescot attached them
its signature on behalf of Haiti.

2018. Death of Henri Namphy in the Dominican Republic:
Born on November 2, 1932 in the Grande Rivière du Nord, Henri Namphy climbed all the
echelons the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAdH) until becoming general.
On February 7, 1986, upon the departure of Jean-Claude Duvalier, he became the president of the
National Council of Government, a civil-military junta before handing it over, the
February 7, 1988, power to Leslie Manigat after a phony presidential election.
The latter forced him to retire, but he returned to power following the coup
state of 20 June 1988. On September 17 of the same year, Namphy took the road
from exile after a coup by the soldiers and non-commissioned officers of the army in favor of Prosper
April and never returned to Haiti. Suffering from lung cancer
left he died in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic.
