📅 1911. Resignation of Antoine Simon.
Having become completely unpopular and made hateful by his excesses, Antoine Simon, who was elected by
the National Assembly on December 17, 1908, was overthrown by rebels from the North. The exodus
the peasant movement towards Cuba and the Dominican Republic began with its government. Two

Jamaica. On the same day, Anténor Firmin, whose supporters formed one of the factions
