📅 1889. Jacmel rebels against President François Denys Legitimate:
This was the second venan protest of this city. Prominent people living in this city had
expressed, in 1888, their dissatisfaction after the designation of Légitime as head of the
Provisional Government and had even launched an attempt to secede, which was quickly reprimanded. This time,
the rebellion came at a time when the government was confronting rebels from the North, with
Hyppolite, and from the South, with Antoine Simon.

📅 1902. Anténor Firmin forms his own government:
Called the "Executive Council" and based in GonaĂŻves, this government quickly became a challenge for
the transitional government led by Théomas Boisrond-Canal and whose headquarters was then
in Port-au-Prince. The composition of Firmin’s government was as follows:
Alfred Henriquez, Foreign Affairs and Justice;
Hammerton Killick, War and Navy;
Normil Chicoye, Interior and Police;
Darius Bourand, Finance and Trade;
Destin Saint-Louis, Public Works;
Dutréville Lamour, Agriculture and Public Education.
The day after this list was published, Firmin published a Declaration.

presbyterals in the parishes of the provinces.
This agreement authorized priests to create primary schools in our rural sections.
