📅 1849. Execution of Céligny Ardouin:
Younger brother of the historian Beaubrun Ardouin, Céligny Ardouin was born at l'Anse-à-Veau in 1806. Autocratic, he was in turn a member of parliament, a senator, and the minister of the interior. He was shot at the Croix des
Bouquets after being accused of plotting against the government of Faustin Soulouque.

 

📅 1911. Leconte launches his first proclamation:
Proclaimed head of the executive power two days earlier, Leconte, from the national palace and surrounded by his
Councilors, convened the extraordinary legislative chambers to elect a new leader
State. Satisfaction was given to him when, on August 15, he was made president of the Republic.

 

📅 1880. Death of Nissage Saget:
President of Haiti on March 19, 1870, Nissage Saget was the wisest of the Haitian executive leaders.
At the end of his constitutional mandate, he refused to stay one more day in the national palace.
He handed power over to the council of ministers and retired to Saint Marc, his hometown.

📅 1933. Haitian-American agreement providing for the withdrawal of American troops from Haiti
With this agreement, the administration of Contributions and Customs returned again to the Haitians.
To avoid a rejection of this agreement by the legislative chambers, which were then scrutinized
any treaty or agreement signed by the government of Sténio Vincent, the Executive ignored the
ratification by the parliament as recommended by the legislation.
