📅 1796. Revolt of the former slaves of the South against the white settlers and General Kerverseau:
General Kerverseau was instructed by Sonthonax to bring André Rigaud to his senses, the latter
who had made the South his personal fiefdom, first circulated the rumor that Kerverseau had come
to re-establish slavery. He therefore unabashedly witnessed the revolt of blacks against the French colonists and
finally arrested and dismissed the French general. The two returned to Saint Domingue in 1802
with Leclerc’s punitive expedition.

📅 1802. Toussaint Louverture arrived in Brest on board the ship "Le Héros" as a prisoner and
of deportees:
Arrested on June 6, 1802 and shipped to France five days later. Brest was one of the transit ports
and destination of the deportees from Saint Domingue (see: 11 June 1802) received the most famous among them
them (Les déportés de Saint Domingue, p. 44
