Equipped with lofty titles (See: 28 May 1793) and a fleet of 17 vessels, Christopher Columbus
landed back on the island by anchoring near Cap-Haitien. It was then the beginning of a genocide.

📅 1888. General Seïde Thélémaque killed in a bloody scuffle:
Commander of the district of Cap-Haitien and leader of an insurgent movement (5 August
1888), at the origin of President Salomon’s resignation, General Seide Thélémaque had
made it to Port-au-Prince to collect his presidential laurels according to the custom of the time. He had to
however, to confront General François Légitime, who also put himself forward as a candidate. Their supporters
clashed and General Thélémaque lost his life during a bloody skirmish. Legitimate
