1802. Alexandre Pétion joins the rebels.
As a member of the 1982 French expedition, he was found at the time of his
defection at the command of a regiment loyal to the French stationed at the
Periphery of Cape. He joined the rebels of the Northern Plain under the
Macaya’s command.
1987. Assassination of Yves Volel, leader of the DRC:
Leader of the Rally of Democrats and candidate for the presidency at
general elections to be held on November 29, Yves Volel was assassinated before
the Grand General of the Port-au-Prince Police. Former member of the Armed Forces
from Haiti and a lawyer by profession, he was going to ask, as a lawyer, for the release of
Jean Raymond Louis. This assassination was one of the strategies used by the CNG
to inspire fear among Haitians as the elections approach and to intimidate them
candidates.
