2016. Elections: First round of presidential and legislative elections
partial:
Penultimate stage of the electoral process initiated in 2015 with a directed Council
very partisan and incompetent led by Pierre-Louis Opont, these elections conducted
under the leadership of a new council headed by Léopold Bélanger were
considered as the first round of the presidential election, the second round of the
legislative to complete the Chamber of Deputies (25), the first round for the
renewal of nearly two-thirds of the Senate (16) and the second round for several
City hall cartels. The voting operations took place under conditions
satisfactory, despite a low participation (between 22 and 25% according to the
observers).
