1492. Discovery of Haiti.
After a long journey that began on August 3, 1492, Christopher Columbus and
the crew of his three caravels saw the north-west coasts of Haiti. They there
landed the next day.
1990. Bombing during the election campaign
At the end of an election rally held in Pétion-Ville with the presence of
candidate Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the participants who were about to leave the venue
were the victims of a bomb attack. Five people lost their lives and 53

English refugees in Port-au-Prince with a force of two thousand men. He withdrew
a stinging defeat and had to retreat. On December 26, he attacked and annihilated
almost the English garrison of Tiburon.
